Feral Cats become Country Members at Villa Isis

Feral Cats are a problem in Lanzarote and there are disturbing stories of how they are treated. The island does little to support them so its all down to local charities and sympathetic individuals. The problem gets worse when holiday makers or locals befriend them, then dump them at the local vet. The vets clearly cannot take responsibility for feral cats and it is not kind if they are fed,  encouraged to breed then abandoned. As well as supporting local animal charities we have followed the recommended course by the local vets and charities such as NineLives. The feral cats who turn up at Villa Isis have all been trapped and neutered (not easy!) and they reside in and around the garden, ever hopeful of a vacancy in the main house (we do have nine interns!) In this way, the situation is sustainable as no further breeding takes place and they naturally defend the territory against newcomers. Here are some of our Country Members who we take care of outside the villa

Animal Charities on the Island include 9liveslanzarote and SARA
